Why use Opus instead of Shopify native?
Customers can find an order with the order number and checkout email. They do not need to create or sign into a customer account.
Let shoppers ask for a different size or product inside the request instead of turning every exchange into an email thread.
Collect photos and details, track the inbound package, inspect returned items, and then create the approved outcome in Shopify.
Your request history is exportable as CSV, and approved Shopify outcomes remain in Shopify. If you only need signed-in customers to request refund returns, Shopify's native option may be all you need.

Why it is free
I built Opus because small stores need something between a shared inbox and an enterprise returns platform. Many do not process enough returns to justify another subscription, but handling every request through email still wastes time.
The goal right now is to help the first 100 real stores, learn what they actually need, and build a track record as a Shopify developer. Opus is inexpensive to run, so I would rather earn trust before asking merchants to pay.
Optional paid features may come later if the app grows. Everything available today is free, with no paid plan, gated trial, or credit card.
Your store is not locked in. Export the Opus request history as CSV at any time, and the Shopify Returns, refunds, store credit, exchange orders, and replacement orders already created through Opus remain in Shopify. If you uninstall, Shopify removes the app blocks and Opus data follows the published retention and deletion policy.
